Angie Rothen’s Back at Hanson Dodge—and She’s Bringing the Firewalls

A familiar face returns to HD, this time with even more tech firepower

Angie Rothen has rejoined Hanson Dodge in a new role: Chief Technology and Security Officer. It’s a longer title than when she was Head of Technology from 2015 to 2019, but the assignment feels familiar—build smart systems, keep them secure, and help the agency’s digital work go even further.

Since her last stint, Rothen has led large-scale tech efforts at Allstate Benefits, started her own consultancy (CybrDynamix), and picked up more cybersecurity expertise than most agencies know what to do with. Her return comes at a moment when Hanson Dodge is making clear moves to level up its leadership team—just a few months after naming Mike Roe as its first Chief Creative Officer.

“As we look to amplify our digital, technical and cybersecurity expertise,” said HD president Stacie Boney, “I have first-hand experience of the success we achieved at HD under Angie’s prior leadership.” She added that Rothen “led her teams to achieve Kentico and Sitecore gold level status,” and that her cybersecurity know-how makes her “perfect for an agency whose mission is to help our clients and people make the next great leap.”

Rothen’s background covers everything from CMS builds and cloud tech to risk audits and the kind of tech acronyms that make most people’s eyes glaze over. She’s led teams managing portfolios up to $100 million and will now steer HD’s technology group while advising across digital strategy.

“In recent years, HD has delivered impressive digital campaigns like the award-winning Visit Utah site,” said Rothen. “I’m thrilled to rejoin the agency at a moment when creativity and technology are more deeply integrated than ever. By leading initiatives at their intersection—where innovation thrives—we deliver even greater impact for our clients.”

The agency had a strong 2024 with double-digit revenue growth and a slate of new clients and assignments, including LIXIL North America (the agency’s biggest win to date), JOJO’s Chocolate, and Baxter Planning, along with new projects for existing clients like fireside MARKET from Potawatomi Ventures.

According to Boney, bringing Rothen back “firmly positions Hanson Dodge for where we need to be, now and in the future.”

She starts this month.
