Days ago, Klick Health became the first agency ever to win all three of Cannes Lions’ top health honors in the same festival — Healthcare Agency of the Year, Healthcare Network of the Year and Independent Agency of the Year – Health.

Now the Toronto independent is making a very different kind of move. It today announced its acquisition of Oxford PharmaGenesis, the UK-founded HealthScience communications consultancy widely regarded as the largest independent in its corner of the industry.

The two companies have a lot in common. Both are independent, both are built on scientific rigor, and both have stayed that way while many peers joined holding companies. Leerom Segal, Klick’s Co-Founder and Chairman, said the resemblance was the first thing he noticed.

“From the moment we met, we were struck by all the commonalities we share and how rare it is for two organizations’ independence, work ethic, ethos and histories to mirror each other quite like ours,” Segal said. Oxford PharmaGenesis CEO Chris Winchester put it more plainly: “Our shared values ensure a bright future together.”

Between them, the two companies bring almost 60 years of experience as agency partners to life sciences brands.

Why the timing makes sense

The deal is a read on where the whole sector is heading. As healthcare professionals, payers and brands lean harder on medical content — and as large language models increasingly surface authoritative, peer-reviewed sources — the old line between medical and commercial communications keeps blurring. The agency that can work both sides has an edge.

That’s the gap this fills. Klick brings commercial strategy, creative, media, analytics and experience design. Oxford PharmaGenesis brings deep medical affairs and value and market access expertise across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America.

Together they’re calling it a scientific-to-commercial offering that follows a brand across its full lifecycle. Klick Chief Medical Officer Holly Henry said the combination creates “new opportunities to support our clients across every stage of the commercialization journey, from clinical development to loss of exclusivity.”

Oxford PharmaGenesis COO Richard White put it more simply. “This is the story of two successful companies growing strongly by themselves, driven by a desire to give clients what they are going to need next, and realizing that we could achieve that better together.”

The scale of the talent is notable. More than 300 of the roughly 500 people joining from Oxford PharmaGenesis hold advanced degrees, pushing Klick past 500 advanced degree holders — more than any single healthcare agency in the world, by the company’s count.

The move also deepens Klick’s bench in oncology and rare diseases and expands its real-world evidence and health economics work. Its footprint grows to 12 offices across North America, the UK, Australia, Brazil and Singapore.

Part of a longer build

None of this comes out of nowhere. Klick spent 2025 building toward exactly this kind of capability — acquiring Peregrine Market Access to strengthen its value and reimbursement work in the US, then picking up the Singapore operations of Ward6, an independent focused on HCP marketing and medical communications.

Last July, Linden Capital Partners and GIC took a minority stake in the Klick Group from GTCR, a vote of confidence in the company’s growth trajectory.

The creative credibility kept pace. That triple crown at Cannes came with 15 honors in all, including Silver Lions for “867-5309” and “Infinite Saree.” And it wasn’t the first record Klick has set — a year earlier, it became the first health agency named Agency of the Year by both The One Show and New York Festivals.

Oxford PharmaGenesis brings its own track record — a three-time winner of the King’s Award for Enterprise and a repeat Great Place to Work honoree in the UK, US and Australia. The two plan to build a combined offering that carries a brand from clinical development through to commercialization, all under one independent roof.
