Category: Kyle’s Quirky Curiosities
Advertising takes many varied forms. Some are straightforward and dull, like a sale ad for gardening clogs, while others stray way far away from the norm, resulting in a moment that can make you laugh, think, be puzzled or weirdly delighted. I’m always on the hunt for the latter—the quirkiest ways brands and advertisers tell a story while hawking a product.
Maybe it’s an animated slug pimping beer, or a psychedelic mishmash of messages from seemingly another universe, or just some random mustachioed salesman waving a freak flag for attention. If it’s skewed, humorous, brilliant or silly, I want to watch. These could be million dollar efforts, old ads that tried really hard and somehow succeeded, or local ads for your favorite farm store from Dubuque. All the better if they came from an indie agency, but that’s not a requirement. These are merely meant for entertainment and perhaps some quirky inspiration.
I’ll be highlighting these as I run across them, but if you see something, definitely say something to me and I’ll look to get it featured. We’re also opening up comments (so be funny, and don’t be a jerk), so you can provide your own thoughts on the matter.
