Airline ads love a grand gesture — the sweeping cabin shot, the champagne pour, the passenger melting into a lie-flat seat. Serviceplan went the other way. “Premium lives in the details,” a new global campaign for Lufthansa, trades abstract premium promises for the specific moments guests experience onboard.
The Munich-based agency built the work around food, hospitality and the small touches that add up over a long flight. It rolls out across TV, movie theaters, print, digital, digital audio and social media, with video and still imagery covering all four travel classes.
Built on what’s already onboard
The campaign isn’t selling a future promise. It’s grounded in Lufthansa’s Future Onboard Experience (FOX), the airline’s ongoing overhaul of the travel experience from Economy through First.
Culinary and hospitality sit at the center of that program. That means a wider selection of menu options in Economy Class, Michelin-star-level dishes from Michelin-starred chef Christoph Kunz in First Class and new wellness offerings — from earplugs and sleep masks on night flights to high-quality personal care products.
Until now, those upgrades lived in separate corners. “Premium lives in the details” pulls them onto a single international communication platform for the first time, built to carry the Lufthansa premium story for the long haul.
Close-ups over clichés
In airline marketing, premium usually means luxury and exclusivity. Lufthansa and Serviceplan argue it’s the accumulation of small things — the quality and presentation of a meal, attentive service, the quiet moments between takeoff and landing.
The creative follows that logic. Videos and visuals isolate individual details of the onboard experience, then let them stack up into something larger.
It’s a smart bet. Anyone can claim luxury. Showing the plating is harder to fake.
A stage for the small stuff
Till Diestel, CCO at Serviceplan GSA, says the craft had to match the care that went into the onboard experience itself.
“The campaign thrives on the fact that every detail is staged with the same care with which it was developed onboard,” Diestel said. “Our goal was not simply to depict these premium moments, but to give them a stage of their own — visually precise, lovingly crafted, and with the highest standards of artistry.”
From “Yes” to the details
The work sits inside Lufthansa’s broader “Yes” brand platform, which tells the story of the travel experiences and possibilities the airline represents. This campaign narrows the lens to what happens in the cabin.
“‘Premium lives in the details’ now deliberately focuses on premium experiences on board,” said Michelle Mynhardt, head of brand marketing and customer relations at Lufthansa. “For us, premium isn’t just about individual grand gestures, but about the many carefully crafted moments our guests experience during their journey.”
