Every wrestling fan has run the fantasy: the entrance music hits, the crowd loses it, and you’re finally in the ring across from your hero. ARGONAUT and Cricket found a version where the fantasy is winnable — you just have to be quick with your thumbs.
The WWE Thumb-Disputed Championship is a short-form, leaderboard-based texting series running through August and September. Superstars get exactly 60 seconds to type an unreasonably long text message. Their words per minute get tallied and posted, and the question the whole thing hangs on is whether in-ring speed translates at all to a phone keyboard.
The idea showed up on set, uninvited
Good ideas don’t always arrive through a brief. Sometimes they’re sitting right there in the corner of a shoot, waiting for somebody to look up.
“We were on a shoot and saw one of the WWE wrestlers text away in their break and it struck us: What if we got the WWE stars to thumb off and see how powerful and fast their thumbs are?” says Hemant Anant Jain, Executive Creative Director at ARGONAUT.
That’s the whole origin story. A break, a phone, a question nobody had thought to ask.
Six superstars, one keyboard, zero dignity
The roster is stacked: Alexa Bliss, Johnny Gargano, Kiana James, Kit Wilson, Penta and Michin (Mia Yim). Wrestlers, it turns out, are exactly as competitive about thumb speed as they are about titles — which is the part that makes the series work.
Then there’s Gargano. The eternally depressed one sighs, planks his way through the competition and posts a final score of one.
One. Not one hundred. One.
The belt is open to everyone
The series isn’t only for people who can take a chair shot. Fans can test their own thumbs against the superstars at thumbdisputed.com, where the challenge runs the same way: pick a superstar, type out their speech, get scored on net WPM, accuracy and clean streaks, then share the result card to Instagram, TikTok or Facebook.
It’s a small, elegant piece of work — the kind of idea that turns a product truth about speed into something a fan can lose 20 minutes to on a Tuesday.
Meanwhile, chaos keeps finding Alexa Bliss
Cricket and WWE also launched a new campaign spot, “What Chaos?”, built around Bliss — a multi-time champion known for her dramatic character turns and the Twisted Bliss off the top rope. In the spot, marauders and earthquakes arrive on schedule, and she stays completely unbothered, because the network holds.
Director Dave Meyers shot it, which explains the register. Meyers has made videos for Kendrick Lamar, Missy Elliott and Sabrina Carpenter, and he specializes in surreal spectacle and cinematic humor delivered with a straight face.
He treats Bliss as a character inside a larger, stranger world rather than a celebrity reading lines — the point being a brand that takes restrictions off and lets fans stay connected to what they love. Even when the earth is opening up behind them.
