Supernatural, an indie agency founded during the tumultuous times of the pandemic in June 2021, boasts a successful and innovative journey since its creation. This agency has been awarded AdAge’s Small Agency of the Year, and team members have been awarded Adweek’s Inaugural AI Innovators of the Year. 

The Machine, also known as Merlyn (a time-traveling wizard), is the A.I. behind their projects and campaigns. Their approach to using A.I. in advertising is grounded in the firm belief of preserving the irreplaceable essence of human creativity. Being able to create an effective synergy between The Machine’s exhaustive data analysis and human judgment is what Supernatural does best. 

We caught up with Supernatural’s Co-Founder and CEO, John Elder, and Co-Founder and CSO, Michael Barrett, to learn more about the indie agency’s success and culture. John and Michael’s background proves to be helpful in the way they create Supernatural’s culture of continual learning and improving the advertising industry.
